Bright Path Counseling and Consulting offers workshops in-person providing opportunities for networking and making connections with colleagues! Our in-person workshops are filled with moments to not only learn but to build relationships with colleagues across the state!

Navigating the Legal System in Play Therapy

This workshop expands the knowledge of play therapists for how to navigate, respond to and head off sticky legal requests. The presenter will use her experience and training in forensic work and share case situations involving courts to give play therapists the foundation they need to not fear court requests.

The presenter will help attendees become aware of common legal terms and how to use legal requests to remain within ethical guidelines. The presenter will thoroughly review the AMHCA, AAMFT and NASW ethics codes as related to records maintenance and record release as well as the Association for Play Therapy Best Practices. The presenter uses case scenarios and presents common documents and forms as examples throughout the workshop. The presenter uses ethics and legal guidelines to discuss how our administrative work (such as record-keeping and note writing) can help a therapist’s competence in a legal situation.

Cultural Considerations for Family Play Therapy with First Generation Latinx Children & Adolescents

This course will describe the unique experiences of first-generation Latinx children and adolescents engaging in play therapy services with their caregivers. Attendees will identify the significance of immigration, cultural values, identity, and language in treatment. This course will assess barriers to engagement in treatment while highlighting cultural strengths that can be utilized to achieve treatment goals. Attendees will discuss best practices and competencies that clinicians need to ethically work with Latinx families. Culturally responsive family play therapy interventions will be demonstrated.

Attendees have the opportunity to participate in an immersive experience by selecting the lunch provided option catered by Tortugas Cuban Grill. Attendees will be able to review and select entree at the time of registration. Additional $15 for optional lunch.

Filial Therapy is recognized by the Association for Play Therapy as one of 10 historically significant approaches or theories in the field of Play Therapy. Filial Therapy is a form of Family Therapy in which therapists train parents to be the primary agent of change in their children’s lives. In this introductory course, attendees will learn how the special play sessions conducted by parents strengthen the parent-child relationship and support the whole child. Filial Therapy is a useful approach for Play Therapists to have in their toolboxes for supporting families.

Workshop Refund Policy:

If you can no longer attend a workshop you have registered for, you may be eligible either receive a credit for another workshop, or receive a refund if you are within the refund policy period. All live workshop refunds will be honored (less a 4% credit card processing fee) for cancellations received at least seven (7) days prior to the date of a live webinar or live workshop. For cancellation or credit requests with 6 days or less notice, a refund of 75% of the registration fee can be refunded or credited to another workshop. For same day workshops that had a waiting list, no refund will be issued. Unfortunately, we cannot issue refunds for On-Demand (Asynchronous) webinars due to the fact that once purchased, the participant has access immediately to all materials.

Refunds will also not be issued due to technical limitations of the participant. We provide detailed instructions, and we are happy to assist in this area to a reasonable extent; however, we don’t have the staff to guide you through every step of the process. Please note that payments made via Credit Card have certain fees associated with them, some of which are non-recoupable and are therefore non-refundable by Bright Path Counseling and Consulting, LLC. Therefore, all workshop payments made by Credit Card will have a four percent credit card fee deducted from the refund. These fees do not apply to cash or check payments.
